Code of Conduct

BSides CT is a community of hackers and security professionals built by hackers and security professionals. We are a group that breaks and fixes, argues and agrees, teaches and learns.

Our community can be edgy and skeptical while still being respectful and safe for everyone.

Purchasing and wearing a badge for BSides CT means that you understand our Code of Conduct and are willing to comply with it. This Code of Conduct applies to all participants, including staff, vendors, speakers, and attendees.

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. BSides CT reserves the right to respond to harassment through whatever manner we deem necessary, including requiring people to leave the event without providing a refund or contacting the appropriate authorities. Anyone can report harassment. If you are at BSides CT and notice someone else being harassed, you can contact any staff member to report it or email .

BSides CT also reserves the right to require people to leave if any Staff identifies harassing behavior or hate speech.

Be Safe

We do not condone actions that intend to harass, terrorize, intimidate, or alarm another person for no reason. This includes, but is not limited to, harassment on social media, including the use of sock accounts.

Examples of unacceptable behavior include, but are not limited to:

  • Heckling or interrupting speakers, attendees, sponsors, or volunteers.
  • Unwelcome/repeated sexual advances.
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following.
  • Abuse speech or actions.
  • Anything that compromises safety.

Be Respectful

We do not condone hate speech which includes but is not limited to words or actions that intimidate or harass another person and are motivated by the other person’s actual or perceived race, religion, ethnicity, disability, sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity or expression.
